Must Visit

Visiting Sydney you must at least see the landmarks it is famous for. Here is just a small list of places you might want to visit. There are heaps more but you may not be able to cover all in the amount of time we have.

Sydney Opera House

Pretty obvious. If you did not visit the Opera House, you did not visit Sydney. If you have the time, you might want to do a tour inside.

Harbour Bridge

From The Rocks area, you will find stairs to go up the bridge. You can actually do a bridge climb but you need to pre book this. A cheaper alternative is to go up the pylons. There’s a small fee but not as expensive as the bridge climb. Or you may want to just walk halfway across and have a look down on the Opera House.

St Mary’s Cathedral and Hyde Park

You can’t visit St Mary’s Cathedral without going through Hyde Park. It’s a nice stroll around the park and make sure you take photos by the fountain. There is a free guided tour every Sunday at 2PM.

Queen Victoria Building

Refurbished to be a shopping complex. Beautiful architecture.

Bondi Beach

World famous beach. Even in summer the water is cold, but it’s the place to be seen in your cossies.

Darling Harbour

Shops, museum, restaurants and other tourist attractions to include the Maritime Museum, Madame Tussaud, Sea Life and Wild Life.

Sydney Fish Market

For the freshest seafood.

Taronga Zoo

And easy relaxing day with the animals. Half the fun is getting there on the ferry.

Botanical Garden

Enjoy the beauty of the Australian flora. Entrance is free and if the day is pleasant, have a bit of a picnic and enjoy the sun. See if you can find Mrs Macquarie’s chair.

Art Gallery of New South Wales

They do have a very good collection.

Museum of Contemporary Art

Dedicated to exhibiting, interpreting and collecting contemporary art.

The Rocks

Where the first settlers handed in 1788. This is where the convicts set up their houses and shops. Take some time to talk around the area.

Sydney Tower Eye

It is the highest point in Sydney with a 360 view of Sydney.

Chinatown

You can find everything Chinese here.
