Shopping

There are quite a number of places to go to for shopping but be aware that Australia can be a bit more pricey than other Asian countries or the United States. The following are just a few suggestions where to go shopping.

Paddy’s Market

9-13 Hay St. Haymarket

This is where you go to get souvenirs. They are generally cheap and even with the low price, you can still haggle. It’s about a 10-minute walk to Paddy’s Market from Club Wyndham

Birkenhead Point Outlet Centre

19 Roseby Street, Drummoyne

It’s an outlet centre, what else can I say. Items are generally cheaper than from the regular retailers.

From Club Wyndham, walk to Hyde Park, Park St, Stand C and take the 500X bus (West Ryde Stn – Ryedale Rd). It’s a 12 minute ride (6 stops) to Victoria Rd before Day St. It’s another 6 minute walk to the outlet centre.

Pitt Street Mall

182 Pitt Street, Sydney

This is part of Pitt Street which was closed off to traffic and is now a pedestrian way. Two notable shopping complexes are in this area. One is Westfield Shopping Centre and the other is Myer’s. You will find most of what you want around this area. Zara, Uniqlo, HCM to name a few. If you are looking for the high-end stuff like Tiffany’s, Louis Vuitton, Prada, Balenciaga, Christian Dior, Gucci and the like, they are spread around the CBD but still quite close to Pitt Street, although you may find a few of them inside Myers and Westfield. You may need walk a bit, but you will find what you want. You may also try entering The Strand. There are novelty shops inside, and they also make good coffee at Gumption by Coffee Alchemy. And don’t miss out on Haigh’s Chocolates.
